Seniors 2022

Most seniors can say that these past three years of high school flew by. Many people have advice that they would give the upcoming seniors. Consider every day as a gift. Appreciate the day and the people you are going to spend it with. Embrace change because it will happen even if you don’t want it to. Create experiences that you will not regret because senior year only happens once.  thechurchillobserver.com

College bound?

If you are college bound, you have a few tasks to complete this year. Below are some of the steps involved in getting you college bound:
1. Take the SAT or ACT if available.  Some colleges will use other methods for admission.

2. Apply to the college of your choice
  • a) Texas state schools use the common application located at: goapplytexas.org/
  • Private schools use the common application located at: commonapp.org/
3. After you have applied to college, order your transcript from the counseling office.(See the registrar, Mrs. Reeves) Also, order your SAT or ACT scores to be sent directly to the college from your SAT or ACT account if you did not already send them.  There will be a small fee to send unless you had them sent when you took the test. If you took the SAT with a fee waiver, you will have fee waivers in your collegeboard account to waive the college application fee.
4. Apply for any scholarships that are available this year. Scholarship information will be sent to your email account (See scholarship link below)

5. Fill out the FAFSA Free Application for Federal Student Aid fafsa.ed.gov/ 2022 application opens October 1. You do not have to pay for this application.  It is free.

6. Turn in any records requested or deposits for dorm rooms. Be sure to visit your college.  Tour the department of the major you choose. After you are accepted, keep logging into your account and checking for messages from the college. You will need to sign up for orientation in the spring or summer before you register for classes in the fall.
